COVID Connection: Upcoming Grant Calls & Fortis BC Community Partners Offer



Mount Waddington, B.C. - January 27, 2020 More opportunities to advance skills are flooding into our inboxes, coming by way of exciting Project Grants. Please read the notice herein from the Healthy Aging Core.

 

1. Digital Learning Pilot Project Grants Call Healthy Aging by United Way (HAUW) is excited to launch a new Digital Learning Pilot Project granting stream developed specifically for community service agencies in BC that wish to promote digital learning and develop virtual activities for older adults who live at home in community. The Call has two streams:

  1. ITech Packages, providing older adults with smart phones and tablets, as well as data, technical support, and learning opportunities; and

  2. Active Aging Plus Grants: support to develop or adapt programs that can be delivered virtually.

Save the date of February 2, 2021, 10-11am for a webinar to learn more, orregister now to attend. The call for applications opens February 3rd and closes March 3rd, with grants awarded for projects commencing April 1st, 2021. 2. Navigation and Peer Support Grant Call Deadline A reminder that the deadline for submitting applications for the new Navigation and Peer Support (NPS) granting stream is January 29th. This grants program is focused specifically on the gaps in information and referral (I&R) services for low income, higher needs seniors who require one-to-one support to access needed services and government benefits. Regional Consultations Virtual Regional Consultations with Healthy Aging by United Way and the CBSS Leadership Council continue to be held in regions across BC. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity to meet other CBSS organizations; get updated on provincial, regional, and local Healthy Aging activity; and contribute information, ideas, and priorities for the development of training, tools, and planning. Representatives of organizations working in community to support health and wellness of older adults are invited to participate in the consultation event in their region. Upcoming sessions:

  • February 24th, 2021, 1pm to 3:30 pm - Central and Northern Vancouver Island.

  • March 4th, 2021, 1pm to 3:30 pm - Central Interior and Okanagan.
