Loaves and Fish did a road trip to Port Hardy recently and the feedback has been amazing!
The team at Loaves and Fish believes there is abundant food for all! In fact, they believe that the HUGE volumes of food wasted each year can effectively feed everyone - and they have the statistics to back this claim up. So in 2012 Loaves and Fish launched the "Food 4U" Food Recovery Program. This partnership with local grocery stores ensures perishable food that stores are throwing out is not wasted and instead is directed to clients of Loaves and Fishes. This is different than the conventional food bank model - check out their website to learn more!
Based on the success of this and community need, Loaves and Fish will be back in Port Hardy in the coming month! All you have to do to receive the food you need is turn up with your government issued ID. If you wish to obtain food for your entire household, simply bring a piece of your family's ID to verify the volume you need, and you can cruise the isle of your local Loaves and Fish pop-up grocer - for free.
LOAVES AND FISHES - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
For the next visit to Port Hardy, they need 15 volunteers. Loaves and Fish wants to know if the Port Hardy program is sustainable, and if there is support.
