The Government of Canada is working towards updates in federal homelessness programming. This move is promising, and may mean additional support for the people of the Regional District of Mount Waddington.
"Reaching Home represents the most significant change in federal homelessness programming since the introduction of the National Homelessness Initiative in 1999. In addition to the previously announced doubling of federal homelessness investments under the National Housing Strategy, Reaching Home introduces some major innovations in the delivery of homelessness and social policy in Canada as a data driven, performance based program. Monday’s announcement lays out the high-level direction of the new program. Over the summer and into the fall the government will be working with stakeholders on some of the specifics of program design." - Tim Richter, The Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness
