Hardy Bay Seniors are "Keeping in Touch"

When the Hardy Bay Senior Citizen's Society closed their doors March 13 to protect their membership from the spread of COVID-19, the vibrant club took their membership's needs to heart and started a new initiative. Their "keeping in touch" program keeps the members connected daily, and helps isolated people access food.

The program is based on a list of volunteers who call and check in on the members daily. The seniors also enlisted the help of Alex Higgins, of Wolven IT, to develop a simple and easy website to help organize the ordering and distribution of food through Save-On Foods in Port Hardy. There are over 50 people using the service, and 25 volunteers from the Hardy Bay Seniors. So impressive Hardy Bay Senior's! Check out the Hardy Bay Senior's On Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/Hardyseniors/

Local Grocery stores have answered the call too, so even those who are not part of a senior's group can access food and have it delivered. There are many options available in each community for people who need modified service and can't make it out. See below for some options, and visit www.mwhn.ca for more links to community resources.
